What Customers Say About Sony DVP-NS77H/B 1080p Upscaling DVD Player with HDMI Output, Black:

The best part of the player though is its capability to resume where you left the dvd last. I love the resolution on this player when scaling.

I originally pay more for this Sony brand DVD player than other brand hoping for reliability. Sony Electronics seem to know that their units is prone to breaking otherwise they would stand behind their full 1 year warranty instead of limited warranty. The same DVD played in other units looked normal in other DVD players in our home. The replacement cost from Sony customer service under my 1 year warranty will cost me more than a new DVD palyer at some store. Product is not reliable.

I am frankly quite mad with Sony, a friend of mine brought a Sony DVD player which failed less than 6 months recently. The warranty is tricky, the 1 year warranty is a limited warranty. I think Sony don't feel good about their product either otherwise they would stand behind their 1 year full warranty instead of 1 yr limited warranty. Shame on Sony. Now Sony wants me to pay $33 to cover labor (in the exchange for a used or repair unit). We don't live in a humid environment to damage the player, the unit is never in a hot environment and the player is never abused, (no children around the house to damage the unit either).

Had this unit for 4 months only and seldom used since we have several DVD players around the house. Sony Customer service told me the 1 year limited warranty is only for parts. Since other brand of new dvd players in stores are sold now from $29 on sale to $49 of similar quality, this unit is very expenseive for the customer to replace under the warranty. Recently every DVD movie played within the unit looked greenish. This is quite a lot for a unit that is seldom used in 4 months of ownership. Sony told me today, I have to pay $33 dollars to them to exchange probably for a refurbish unit or a repaired unit.

It does not have full 1 year warranty as I thought it had. Owners are covered for 3 month of warranty then owner have to pay for labor and the cost of shipping to and return after the 3 months.

Google "dvp-ns77h zoom icon" for more on this problem and no resolution from Sony. It is very distracting and there is no on-screen display OFF setting. When watching an anamorphic widescreen DVD, you need to use the zoom button on the remote to get the video to fill the screen. But there is a bright blue "X2" magnifying glass icon on the top right of the screen that will not go away.

A waste of money. More and more of these players are being made like they're disposable. Had this for about 7 months when the "loading" flashing began and a month later it wouldn't play anything at all.

The upconverting isn't going to be Blu-Ray quality obviously, but it definitely enhances the picture quality. It plays pretty much everything you can think of, including dual layer burned DVDs. Great product. I was looking for a nice upconverter to use with my new HDTV and I came across this one. I love it.
